Comfort, Convenience, and Quick Results Why Invisalign Is Clearly the Best Choice

Removable Aligners

Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners can be removed for brushing, flossing, or meals. Throughout treatment, you can continue to enjoy your favorite crunchy foods without worrying about damaging your wires or brackets. Aligners also allow you to brush and floss normally so that you can maintain optimal oral health without braces getting in the way.

Comfortable Materials

The wires and brackets of traditional braces can irritate your lips, tongue, and the insides of your cheeks. Invisalign clear aligner trays are laser-cut to ensure no sharp edges. Each aligner is made using a smooth, BPA-free plastic to minimize irritation.

Shorter Timeline

While patients who choose braces typically wear them for 18 months to four years, Invisalign is designed to straighten your smile in 12-18 months. Dr. Vincent Ip uses PROPEL Excelleration™ technology during every case. PROPEL allows Dr. Ip to move the teeth into alignment much quicker. In some cases, it can cut treatment time in half.

Virtually Invisible

Often, teens and adults avoid orthodontics because they simply do not want to wear metal braces. Many patients choose Invisalign because it is incredibly discreet compared to traditional orthodontics. The clear aligner trays used for the Invisalign system allow you to continue your daily routine with confidence.

How Invisalign Works 6 Steps to a Straighter Smile

A Straighter Smile in One Year? PROPEL Makes It Possible

During each regularly scheduled orthodontic appointment, Dr. Ip will treat the jawbone with PROPEL — a simple, three-step approach designed to speed up your orthodontic treatment. First, he will evaluate the treatment area. Then, he will thoroughly clean the site. Next, he will numb the area and create micro-osteoperforations, or tiny pinholes. By gently creating a series of tiny pinholes in the jawbone, our dentist can trigger a natural inflammatory response that accelerates the rate of tooth movement by over 60 percent.

Consultation

Dr. Ip will evaluate your bite and determine whether the treatment is a good option for you. If braces are recommended, we will refer you to a trusted orthodontist.

Planning

If you are a good candidate for Invisalign, we will take digital impressions. Using specialized software, we will then be able to give you an accurate treatment timeline, tell you how many trays you will need, and provide estimated costs.

Fabrication

All the information that Dr. Ip gathers will be sent to the Invisalign lab where they manufacture the clear aligners for your treatment plan. Your custom trays will be fabricated over the next two to four weeks.

Start Treatment

When your aligners are ready, you can start treatment immediately after picking them up. For your treatment plan to be effective, you need to wear your trays 20-22 hours every day. Every two weeks, you will switch to a new set of trays.

Checkups

Most patients only have to visit our Austin office every six weeks or so. During these appointments, Dr. Ip will monitor your progress. He may also apply PROPEL to speed up the process.

Finish Treatment

Most patients are done with treatment after approximately 12 months. In most cases, you can continue to wear your last tray as your retainer to maintain your results

My search for a dentist is finally over! The office staff, my dental hygienist, and Dr. Ip were all amazing. They were friendly and knowledgeable. The level of care they provided, from the X-rays to the cleaning, and finally Dr. Ip’s recommendations, was beyond thorough and exceeded my expectations. Can’t believe I’m about to write this but I’m actually looking forward to going back. I’ve been to a couple of dentists that absolutely wasted my time. Not Smile 360. Don’t hesitate to make an appointment- you won’t be disappointed.

Invisalign Alternatives

/

If you are not a good candidate for Invisalign aligners, there are many alternatives available. For minor misalignment that does not affect your dental health, veneers or other cosmetic dentistry procedures might be ideal. For more serious malocclusion, braces could be the optimal choice. We can discuss all your treatment options during a consultation at our Austin office.

Invisalign FAQ Answers to Common Questions

Does insurance cover Invisalign aligners?

Many dental insurance plans will cover Invisalign work much like traditional braces. The percentage of coverage will depend on your insurance provider. Our team can check with your provider directly for more information. Keep in mind that orthodontics is sometimes covered by your health insurance rather than your dental plan.

What happens if I don't wear my aligners for 20-22 hours a day?

If you don't wear your Invisalign aligners for at least 20 hours a day, it can result in delayed results and greater discomfort when putting on the next set of clear aligners. The custom treatment plan assumes patients will wear their aligners as directed.

Can I drink with my Invisalign aligners on?

You can drink cold or cool water while wearing your Invisalign aligners. You should remove your clear aligners when you drink any other kind of beverage. Colored beverages can stain the clear aligners, and sugary beverages increase the risk of tooth decay. Warm and hot beverages may warp your Invisalign aligners, reducing their effectiveness.

Could my teeth move back after Invisalign treatment?

Yes. Much like braces, your teeth can shift out of position without the use of a retainer. Once your Invisalign work is completed, the team at our practice can create a retainer that will help maintain the final results of treatment. In other cases, you will simply wear your final set of aligners at night.

Do Invisalign aligners make your teeth yellow?

No, Invisalign aligners will not turn your teeth yellow. However, residue from foods that get on your teeth can cause tooth discoloration and may stain the clear aligner. The same is true with smoking and the use of tobacco products during treatment. It's important to remove your Invisalign aligners when eating or drinking, practice good oral hygiene, and keep your clear aligners clean.
